Kellan Countless hours of practice, and enough determination to succeed no matter the cost is what has brought Kellan to standing at the door to his life coming full circle. Life on the competition circuit was fast-paced, and exciting, but now Kellan is ready to settle down, and stay in his own bed for longer than a week. Opening Powerhouse Martial Arts with his three best friends was just what they all needed to showcase their skills from traditional forms, all the way to show-style sport tricking. Kellan thought he had it all figured out, except he didn’t figure in the sassy barista next door. Molly For seven years, Molly saved every penny she had to buy the quirky coffeeshop on the corner. Lattes, cappuccinos, espresso. You name it, Molly can make it. Early mornings slinging coffee, and late nights thinking up the next new coffee craze leaves Molly little time to have a life. Her customers have become her family, and she would do anything to keep her customers happy. Even venturing over to the new Martial Arts studio next door, and asking them to keep the screaming and grunting to a minimum. Surely one doesn’t need to scream so much, right? With Molly throwing down the gauntlet to quiet down or shut down, Kellan does the only thing he can do. Take off the sparring gloves, and show the barista just what Powerhouse Martial Arts is all about. Strength, style, & taking no prisoners.

Dropkick My Heart (Powerhouse M.A. Book 1)
By: Winter Travers
5 out of 5 stars

The story Dropkick My Heart (Powerhouse M.A. Book 1) by Winter Travers is a sports romance book. Kellan along with his three best friends have opened a Martial Arts business together. They were together on the competition circuit and while it was fast and exciting, Kellan now wants a more stable life. Molly is happy with owning her own coffee shop and loves to think up new coffee drinks and keeping her customer’s happy. She has her regulars coming in and always takes the time to visit with them. She never expected what a firestorm that a simple request to keep the noise down next door would create. Both of them are digging in their heels. What could possibly happen next?

This is a story that had me laughing really hard at some of the antics that both Kellan and Molly use once their feud is on. It also had me craving coffee and cookies. As the story progresses you can tell that both Kellan and Molly are falling for each other and I was rooting for them all the way. This is the first book I have read by the author and she is an amazing writer and you come to love the characters she has created. Molly is a very hard working person who spends seven days a week making sure that her customers are taken care of. This doesn’t leave much room for a personal life or a romantic relationship. Her best friend works with her at the coffee shop and is always trying to get Molly to go out more often. Even more so when she sees who owns the Martial Arts business. I love the bantering back and forth between everyone. I found it one of the reasons I loved the book so much. Even as tensions are high Molly begins to have different feelings for Kellen. Will she act on them? Will Molly and Kellen find a way to smooth out their differences and then act on their newfound emotions for each other?

Kellen seems to do a lion’s share of the work that the new business that he and his friends have started. He loves to teach the classes and martial arts is a way of life for him, not just a way to make money. He really cares about his students. At first, he seems to be quite dismissive of Molly and is ready to take her on when things escalate. Somewhere along the way, his feelings begin to change. What is in the cards for these two, a final showdown or something totally different? Read this story to find out what happens. This is the first book in the Powerhouse M.A. series and I can’t wait to read the next one. This story does include adult situations which would make it a story for those 18 years of age or older.

Dropkick My Heart Powerhouse MA Series Volume 1 Winter Travers Books Reviews

Wasn't sure what I was getting into when I started this book, but I wasn't disappointed!
It was something new and refreshing, something I'd been looking for for a long time now!
Molly was fun...but I have to say, the secondary characters were truly a hoot!! I really hope that Sage gets her own story!! And let me tell you, Bess and her book club...laughed sooo much!!
Kellan was a hard one to handle. He really was a powerhouse!
But...in the end....yeah, le sigh!
This is a fantastic beginning for Winter Travers' newest series. Kellen and Molly are the perfect match to get this series started with a lighthearted flare. As owners of neighboring businesses, one a sedate coffee shop that hosts elderly book clubs and a Karate studio, they clash from the beginning. I never knew what they were going to do next.
The way we meet all of the men and get a view into their different personalities is great. I hope Sage gets her happily ever after as well. I truly enjoyed this book and I am wholeheartedly looking forward to seeing where this series goes.
I took a little bit to warm up to these two characters, Molly & Kellan. I did't get where the animosity was coming from, or where Kellan got the idea that Molly wanted to shut him down... But the story was cute & I loved Dante & his obsession with Molly's cookies ("Stay away from her cookies!" I can hear Kellan grumbling...LOL). I also would have liked a little more interaction w/ M&K after they got over their misunderstanding. The ending felt a little rushed, compared to the pacing of the rest of the story.

Overall, however, I enjoyed the story a LOT, I love the writing style, and I'm looking forward to reading the next books in the series. )
This is the story of Molly, coffee shop owner, and Kellan, kung-fu hottie (lol)/karate studio owner. The coffee shop and the karate studio he owns with his 3 friends share a wall in the strip mall where they are located. When she goes there to complain about the screaming (="breathing") they are doing, they make it a point to get louder. And so it begins, pranking each other back and forth. It is all fun and games until Molly and Kellan realize that they are attracted to each other, which confuses them to no end.

It was a very easy, lighthearted read, made me chuckle quite a few times. It reminded me a little bit of CM Owens' funny books, which I just love. Looking forward to the next karate kung-fu class )))
I am only taking off a .5 since the ending was abrupt otherwise this would be a 5 star book.

I love Winter Travers and she is a one-click for me. Like all of her books the characters are developed and well thought out. She infuses comedy into her writing and you do fall into the story. This book was no different. The relationship between Molly and Kellan was fun, funny, and explosive.

When Kellan and friends opened the MMA gym Powerhouse next door to Molly's coffee shop, they didn't think that they would be engaging in pranks with Molly. But when Molly asks them to quit disturbing her customers with "screaming" and goes to the local committee to meet about when they don't stop that is exactly what Kellan finds himself in. Thus the war has begun and during that time Kellan can't stop thinking about Molly and Molly can't stop thinking about Kellan.

As I laughed during the pranks I was till sucked into the book. The only thing that I really didn't enjoy was the ending to me it seemed sort of abrupt as in a big the end was dropped out of nowhere. Other than that this book is a great read and I can't wait for the next installment.
