Mr. Arnot goes to great length showing how the parables dovetail together into a cohesive theology while each is still valuable as a stand-alone lesson on life and eternity. Arnot stresses the importance of using both logic and imagination when interpreting the parables,"Deficient in the analogical faculty, you cannot in this department go quickly forward; but deficient in the logical faculty, you will go forward too fast and too far. We need a well-spread, well-filled sail; but we need also a helm to direct the ship in the path of safety."
Many times I've seen books that attempt to interpret the parables using only the imagination, interpreting the symbols of the parable, but having no sense of overall completeness and direction to the interpretation. This book, bringing all of them together into a complete set of teachings with a clear progression and goal, is a great help in understanding the teachings of Jesus.
In this world of schisms (Catholics, Calvinists, Wesleyans, Vineyards, Baptists, Reformed-this, and Neo-that) I think it's important to keep in mind that the teachings of God are all that matters, and even if there are a few things in this book you don't agree with, studying the Word will help you in your spiritual and Earthly life. Take the good lessons from the 95% of this book that your particular theology doesn't have a problem with and grow in the Spirit.

Great book for reference. Glas I purchased it.
A whole new vision. HELPFULL
Any Bible student will be amazed at the insights and explanations of the parables. Thought some of the illustrations may be old they still get the point across. Remember the Bible is an old book too. He gives insight to verses leading up to the parables, how fitting and easily understood the parables were for that day, it is truly a layman's book and you will not be disappointed.

I can't say enough about this marvelous & informative book. For the serious student of the Bible it is a MUST to enjoy & discover the true meaning of what Jesus' parables actually meant during his time on Planet Earth as God incarnate.......one has to read this
